WORD FOR THOSE EMERGING FROM THE WILDERNESS

WORD FOR THOSE EMERGING FROM THE WILDERNESS

(This is an edited transcription of a prophetic word released via live video broadcast on 13th June 2019)

This is an hour where Holy Spirit is saying “You have permission. You have permission to arise and to shine in this hour.” The Lord is saying “It is the hour of Isaiah 60 being fulfilled” where they are arising and shining - the crazy, the wacky, the ones with all the different expressions and the different blueprints that God has placed inside of you; this is the hour.

God is saying “Arise and shine, arise and shine.” Stop trying to get permission from men when God has giving you permission; because we are constantly comparing. We are constantly looking; we are constantly trying to measure what we carry according to culture and to the church culture and to what is acceptable.

The Lord is saying “I don’t want you to look at those things. Will you constantly feast on the throne room in My presence and My Glory and you will live by a different standard? You will legislate from a different place. You will release from a different place.”

VOICES OF HARVEST

Right now God is calling you; whether you are in a church or not in a church. This is what it says, The Holy Spirit, He searches through the earth.” He’s searching through the earth; He’s looking for those who will say yes. He’s looking and He’s searching, and His eyes are on you.

This is the Joel 2 season of the Spirit of God being poured out on the earth. I tell you what; the fruit of that is going to look messy and crazy at first. The fruit of that is not going to look like you can manage it; like you can have an admin team and a team of people trying to manage it in your church organization. It will not be enough to catch the outpouring and the harvest that is coming but God is starting with you right now.

He’s calling you out of that place and I want to speak to those who are emerging from the wilderness. What am I talking about? I’m talking about a specific people. I’m talking about a people who have maybe been living on the fringe in this past season. I’m talking about people that carry the Spirit of God; who love Jesus; who know that they have been created and designed to love God and there has been a season that you have been in an isolation and wilderness and a place of preparation and you have been trying to navigate it knowing that this is your season of emerging; this is your season that God is leading you out into something new.

LOOK TO THE WILDERNESS

God has been telling me for years now to look to the wilderness for the weighty voices from the Lord. And that’s not to devalue those who God has birthed and trained in the church; that’s not what I’m saying. I’m talking about those who have been through the fire and the wilderness; those who have been through a season that has been so intense that you thought you were going to die; a season of assassination, a season of such opposition, a season where everything came against you yet you’re still standing; God says, “They are the ones who carry my weighty glory” They are the ones who carry a word from the Lord for this hour.

I think we do often keep looking at the wrong places for the weighty voice of the Lord. I think we’re constantly looking for those who are refined. We’re constantly looking for these voices that have it all together, but God is looking for the ones that are rough around the edges that will simply be a container for His Glory to pour in and leak out in the earth.

We are going to see a different blueprint. We’re going to see a different kind of voice arise in this season. We’re going to see something arise that we have not seen that will be a solution to what the earth is crying out for. We’re going to see prophets and people sent into places, situations, social situations that are very messy, that the church doesn’t want to deal with. Areas that unless you have been to the lowest depths you won’t recognise or see.

THE PREPARATION SEASON IS THE SETUP

You have been in this season where God has been birthing what is inside of you and maybe you don’t understand your isolation; maybe you don’t understand why there has even been levels of rejection; maybe you don’t even know why people have been devaluing your voice. There’s been all these different elements that have been painful. God has been preparing you as a voice emerging from the wilderness to speak; to prepare the way of the Lord and to speak forth what is from his heart.

God has been preparing you where everything around you feels like it’s been cut off around you; every single relationship and tie and you’re like “God what is going on?” He’s preparing you; He’s preparing you.

There are seasons you go through and you don’t understand why you go through them. We don’t understand why they’re so painful we don’t understand why God would lead you into a situation that looks like It’s recession; it looks like it is subtraction in your life but it’s not. It’s the addition.

BIRTHED IN THE WILDERNESS TO LEAD PEOPLE OUT

God often develops and births people you in the wilderness. You think of John the Baptizer. His ministry was “a voice crying in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord.” He wasn’t in the synagogues, he was a voice crying in the wilderness. Jesus said of John. He said “John is the greatest of the prophets, but even you are greater than he;” because John was the ending of an era and John, as he baptized Jesus, there was a tag in the spirit as one ministry ended and another began and what happened that moment that Jesus had Holy Spirit come down upon him and say, “This is my son whom I love and I am well pleased” and Jesus then went into His wilderness.

He went into His wilderness. His ministry didn’t begin until that moment. His ministry didn’t begin until right here. He was in the wilderness going through all these thoughts and bombardment of the enemy and temptations to turn the stones into bread; and I believe we go through these wilderness seasons because God is wanting the pure voices to arise and to emerge.

Don’t let comfort and safety become the place that you die because you’re not willing to be in a place that it’s just you and the Lord; that surrender, that deep place of surrender where you feel like you’re giving up everything for Him to come and live inside of you; for Him to come and take up residence in you where you say; “it’s no longer I that live but Christ who lives in me;”

That's what the wilderness does. This is what Isaiah 43:5 prophesies to John;

“A voice cries out in the desert, clear a way for the Lord, make a straight highway in the wilderness for our God. Every valley will be raised, and every mountain and hill will be low. Deep places will be made level, rough places will be made smooth. Then the Lord’s Glory will be revealed, and all the people will see it. The Lord has spoken;”

That’s the ministry of the prophetic voices; those who are coming and emerging from the wilderness and they will emerge out of that place that they thought they would die in. They would emerge out of that place bursting with more life and more transformation, more Holy Spirit power and breakthrough than they ever thought possible. The very fragrance of their season of death will actually be the ignition of a ministry of reconciliation and resurrection life to lead others lost and in bondage OUT!

FROM ISOLATION TO FAMILY

And while God often uses the wilderness and isolation to birth prophets, ln the longterm prophets need family. There are emerging voices right now without a family and God is calling you home. God doesn’t lead you into the wilderness so that you can rebel, He uses it to activate and ignite you then He leads you back so that you can then return with an answer and with a solution and you can actually be part of a family.

It’s just so important because in this season we’re going to see the family of God unite like more than ever before. This is not a season of more disjointing and more denominationalisms. It’s to be a season of the unity of the body of Christ; because the body of Christ, more than anything else, is us getting in our own little groups “I’m a prophetic voice, I’m this and I need to separate from this person because they don’t operate like me.” No, we need to work together and it’s time that the emerging voices come out of the wilderness and so that the body of Christ can come together in obedience and family.

There are a lot of people on social media who need a place to call home. There are a lot of people on social media who maybe don’t go to church and you’ve been out on the fringe and you’ve been in a very unhealthy place where maybe you don’t even realize what you carry and so I’m speaking to you more than anybody else. I’m speaking to you right now. Yes, I’ve been there but that’s not the end of the story. I’m speaking to those who have been in the wilderness past its expiry. I’m speaking to those who have been living on the fringes. I’m speaking to the sons and daughters that have felt like they have no place in the kingdom or in the church and today God is calling you back. He’s calling you into the family of God. He’s calling you to belong, He’s calling you to be a voice, He’s calling you to resound his glory into the earth.

LOOK WHAT THE WILDERNESS DID!

I want to ask; what has the wilderness done in you? I’m going to tell you what it’s done. The wilderness cultivates intimacy. It’s just you and Him alone. There’s nothing else, it feels like death because you’re like “I’m used to calling someone up and venting but I’ve got no one” and you go through this season and you’re like I don’t know who to call and the only one on the end of the line is Jesus; the only one on the end of the line is the Father. It’s where you get to know the Father really well and you’re not depending on a spiritual father. Earthly fathers are good but a terrible and disappointing replacement for the Father. The father is saying, “The wilderness is a place where you met Me. The wilderness is a place where you begin to hear my voice like a sheep knows my voice and then you know what I sound like and then you know what to speak and then you know what to say because you’re beginning to speak forth what I’ve already spoken into your spirit and release that into the earth.”

The wilderness Is where you fight your hardest battles. This is where the warfare is the most intense; it’s where you go through the mind wars and the things that come against you like Jesus did. He came against those mind battles and those wars, but it is the place that you have victory. It is the place that you defeat the bears and the lions like David and you emerge victorious. When you meet your Goliath, it’s not even a match for you because God has already been pouring out that authority. He has already showed you who you are.

YOUR PROMOTION COMES FROM THE LORD

The wilderness season is really powerful because it is the place where you know that your promotion comes from the Lord and not by man’s hands. What happened to David? All David’s brothers, when Prophet Samuel came along and said that the next king of Israel comes from your family, your lineage and He said, “it’s none of these, is there anyone else” and they had to call forth David from the wilderness, from tending to the sheep,” what happened? It wasn’t man that promoted David, it was God and when you’ve been faithful even in that season, the promotion comes from the Lord. You don’t need to chase down doors and I believe a marker of this season and for this generation is that we’re not going to seek fame or influence. We’re not going to seek fortune we’re not going to seek networking connections and all those sorts of things.

Young ministers, you’re not going to seek out event invites in churches who are going to get you to come along. You’ll just allow God to bring those things to you. Let the promotion come from the Lord.

The marker of these people is that they do not need to look for promotion. They don’t need to be these incredible self-marketers because God does it for them. The very fruit of their life is what people are drawn to because they know that the Spirit of God is upon their life.

PURE VOICES: NOT BRANDED OR OWNED

No one can say they own you. They weren’t there in the middle of your dark night of the soul. They weren’t in that place, no they weren’t. They weren’t in that place when you needed someone to call on. No, it was only Jesus. They can’t own you, they can’t put their brand on you. They can’t put their mark on you; they can’t claim you, “this is my spiritual son, this is my spiritual daughter.” No, I’m not against that stuff but I’m telling you there’s some really bad messy stuff that comes with that that is just not good and it has caused a lot of people to be squashed and controlled instead of freed and released and I’m going to tell you something, prophetic voices do need accountability and they do need people that they can draw from and people that can speak into their lives but I tell you what’s going to shut down a prophetic voice; it’s going to be someone that tries to own you, put their brand on you saying I have made you; that straightaway will weaken the prophetic voice and unction. It will mucky and muddy the very thing that is supposed to come out forth pure.

THE PURIFICATION & THE NEW WINE

So, what else has the Lord has been doing? He has been healing and freeing you. You don’t even realize; the wilderness has been doing way more for you than you realize. It’s working for you. It’s working in your favor. It’s been doing some deep deconstruction and construction a new thing. He has been re-directing you. There’s a new wine skin; maybe the thing you walked into the wilderness with, God is taking that from you and He’s giving a whole new wine skin and then He’s been filling you up with the new wine of His presence and you come out of the wilderness gushing forth with that new wine and people go, “I’ve not heard that before. Why does that just sound like life to me? Why is that just like refreshing water to my soul?” That’s why because it’s the new wine. It’s fresh. It’s new, it’s not tainted.

HE HAS BEEN DEVELOPING YOUR UNIQUE SOUND

Wow, I love that next thing God is doing in honing your instrument or unique expression. I’ve been saying this a lot but there is about to become and it’s already happening, the emerging of such crazy, out there expressions of God’s kingdom that is going to absolutely just bless the world but it’s going to be different from what we expect. The package is going to be very different from what we expect. It’s almost like we have seen that well this is what the kingdom is, and this is what we can release and it’s this tiny, there’s this tiny area here. Prophet looks like this, an evangelist looks like this, but I’m telling you right now, the emerging voices that are coming from the wilderness in this season; they have such a new vocabulary that they carry. There is such a new way and method that they operate in and unless you tapped into the spirit, you will write off who they are and what they carry. God is wanting to hone that expression that is inside of you He’s wanting you to own it. He’s wanting you to pick up the very thing that is in your hand that God has given you.

“Why would you use a sling, when you can use sword? here is the armor you need” But David said “I can’t do it with that, that’s old, that’s what I used to do it with before this season. I can’t do that anymore. I need my sling.” Now that looks stupid and we’re going to look at that sling and go, “you know, that’s stupid. Why would that person do that” but it is the new sound that God is bringing, that He’s carrying throughout the earth and as that sling, it is a new sound that is released and if you listen to the spirit you’ll tap into that place and you’ll value it.

STORIES FROM THE WILDERNESS ARE ABOUT TO BE WRITTEN

God told me to prophesy “Stories from the wilderness are about to be written in this season. You’re going to come out with a song” and the Lord says “there are going to be even stories and there are going to be books that are going to be written. There are stories that are going to be written from the wilderness.” If you felt that in your spirit just then, this might not be for everybody, but this is just for a few people. If you felt like “my story needs to be written and it’s going to empower a lot of people,” I want to pray for you right now. I feel like the Lord is saying your story is about to be written and the Lord said, “There are storytellers that are rising up in this season. There are storytellers rising”

So release that story, release that story, release that story. I just felt someone was saying “but it’s too dark, it’s too painful God, it’s too deep. I don’t want to relive that.”

The lord says “You’re not going to relive it. You’re going to see My victory. You’re going to see My power and My redemption and My Glory.”

If you’ve been through that season, if you’ve been through the wilderness, if you’ve been through the deep dark valley of the shadow of death but you came out on the other side and maybe you still don’t feel whole, but God speaks over you; “You are whole, and your voice needs to be heard in this season.”

I just break off every single lie, every single condemnation of the enemy, every voice that has tried to stunt you oppress you, hold you, control you, limit you, edit you, be broken in the name of Jesus! On behalf of leaders and people that never saw what was in you, I’m sorry. On behalf of parents, family members and friends that tried to tell you “shut up, you’re crazy.” I’m sorry; just release forgiveness to them even right now because you’re going to emerge. You’re going to emerge.

It’s a new day, you’re going to brush it off. You can’t let your story stay in that place where you were hurt. Prophets, you can’t stay there, you can’t be broken orphaned prophets anymore. Okay it was your story and let it be the part of your story that sets people free, not lead people into the wilderness, into brokenness. Let it be the part of your story that makes people realize “wow, that’s where I’m at but I’m going to get free because they did it.” Let it, let it go.

God, I thank you. I thank you for the stories that will be written for those who are feeling the anointing that is been released even right now to write their stories, to write what you’ve given them God, that in this season you’re telling people, “pick up your pens, begin to release what I give you, the revelation I give you, it’s time;” but you’re like, “but who will listen to me?” God says, “This is the hour. I want you to piece it together; I want you to begin to learn what it is again to steward my voice. I want you to speak.

WHAT IS IN YOUR HANDS RIGHT NOW?

Maybe you’re on here and you’re a prophetic voice and maybe you read the words I write or other prophetic voices and you’re like, “I hear the same thing;” good! The same Holy Spirit is speaking to you; but now it’s time for you to release it. I’m not telling you to go create an online ministry; am just telling you to begin to steward the word of the Lord. Begin to steward what He’s saying to you. Go and encourage a neighbor. Go and release the word of God over people.

Thank you Jesus that we are emerging out of that place God, that the preparation season that many have been through is over and God you’re leading them into a place of being able to be solutionists and architects of the word that you want to see. We say thank you, we say thank you, we say thank you.

Let go. Don’t get stuck because you can’t move on without the closure of answers to why things landed the way they did. Why things fell apart and why you were left holding the broken fragments of a dream you felt God led you to. Why you were attacked so relentlessly and lost so much. Why you were shipwrecked, slandered, and feel like you have only gone backwards not forwards. I know it’s cost you everything and you don’t see what it produced yet, but unless you turn the page it won’t allow God to connect the dots and reshuffle the pages that right now feel out of order. For isn’t he the orchestrator of your life? He knows what those dark nights produced even when you didn’t. He knows what those seasons were for even though right now all you see when you look behind is dead ends and wild goose chases. But unless you turn the page you’ll never get to see the rest of the story and see Him connect all the seasons like poetry. Yes, even the hard and most painful moments He has a way of turning around if you’ll let Him. So how do you do that today? Give up. It’s where you choose to close the chapter by giving Him the pieces and questions. It’s a faith thing and the deepest surrender when it feels unjust and you don’t understand. And I know many reading this feel bottled up with grief, but today refuse to keep rehearsing or trying to do this in your own strength. The floor is the only way forward and there’s a brand new chapter waiting to unfold. It’s a call to trust. To believe that even what you can’t understand has been seen, measured, and held by a God who doesn’t waste pain. But you have been living in a chapter that ended a long time ago. The ink dried, the door closed, but your heart stayed behind trying to rewrite what already happened. Let that go. The new is already here waiting for you to choose it over the tired tape of the past you have been watching. It’s here to show you that there’s so much more ahead for you than you knew. It’s waiting to breathe life into your lungs and bring clarity and vision after the fog. So turn the page, not because you understand but because you are choosing to trust the one who’s writing it. And watch what He does with the blank space.

As we start this week, I have a word for many out there: Don’t miss your burning bush season. Or maybe I should say, don’t overlook your burning bush season. Don’t miss it. We often look at seasons where things don’t add up or make sense and diagnose them as seasons of waiting, seasons we’re just trying to survive until we get to the next destination, the next stop. We don’t always see the richness of what God is depositing in each season. In the last few days, I keep hearing this: Don’t miss your burning bush season. Remember the story of Moses? He was tending his father-in-law’s sheep in the wilderness when he saw the burning bush. He was simply doing his job, satisfied in it when suddenly, there was an encounter with God. And God pulled him out out of the wilderness, out of that environment, out of that situation, out of the guilt and shame of his past. God pulled him out and gave him an assignment. Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law… and the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.” - Exodus 3:1–2 “God called to him from within the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’ And Moses said, ‘Here I am.’” - Exodus 3:4 He was simply doing his job, when suddenly, there was an encounter with God. And God pulled him out of the wilderness, out of that environment, out of that situation, out of the guilt and shame of his past. God pulled him out and gave him an assignment. “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” - Exodus 3:10 And I believe we are in a moment right now that, to many, feels like a standstill. It feels like a hiatus after a long season of pioneering for the Lord, one that has strangely led to this place of wilderness. As I’ve been sharing for a while, we’ve been in a Hosea 2 season, where the Lord has been leading the Church back into the wilderness. That wilderness has been necessary for you. You’ve needed respite. You’ve needed refreshing. You’ve needed to break away from the hustle so God could reset you and bring you back to encounter, which is the ultimate reset. That’s what truly resets you. You’ve taken on so many mantles and jackets—Saul’s armor—for years. You don’t know which way is up anymore, or what your assignment is, who you’re called to, or who you’re not called to. You don’t know where your alignments are meant to be. You’ve had your hands in too many pies, your feet muddy from too many places. You’ve been slimed, slandered. You’ve walked through heartache, difficulty, betrayal. Yet, you’ve felt the compulsion to step into anything just to feel like you’re not lost. But no, the wilderness has been necessary to set you free. Here’s what you need to know: the wilderness can shift quickly because the wilderness leads to encounter, and encounter launches you into your new assignment. I say this over you and prophesy: you are in a very small window of time where the Lord is doing a massive work. The time isn’t long but the work is deep. Let me say that again: the time isn’t long, but the work is deep. God is going deep generationally. This isn’t a short cleanup process. God is going deep into your life, and He wants to set your feet on a new foundation. That’s right this season you’re in right now is a season of a brand-new slab being laid in your life. A new foundation. What is foundation? It’s where God gets you ready, gears you up for the new thing He’s going to build in your life, around you, and through you. Last year, we went to Australia, and the Lord gave me a dream: two towers crumbling to the ground. He said, “You’re at ground zero.” That’s what this is—a ground zero. A new slab has been laid in your life. God is going low and slow right now. He’s getting you ready because many of us have built for years without a foundation—without solid structure or deep roots. So God’s been setting that right for the new season, and for the Church. But we often misdiagnose seasons of fresh foundation as stagnancy, when they’re anything but. When the Lord sets your heart right, He aligns you to a rhythm and a synergy you didn’t know in the past season. He sharpens your discernment your ability to see and know what’s true. He leads you to the right people, right places, and right environments. I believe one key part of this new foundation is that God is leading many out of loneliness and isolation. He’s not just setting your feet upon the rock of salvation He’s breaking off orphan mentalities, the hustle, the striving and leading you into an Acts 2 infrastructure: community, family, people who hold your arms up so you can thrive. This foundation includes restoration God restoring the years the locusts have eaten. And He’s doing that right now. Now for the weighty part of this word: That moment with Moses at the burning bush was more significant than we often realize. It was like Elisha being mantled by Elijah a sudden shift into his true calling. In that moment, God told Moses: “ Go. Set my people free.” And Moses responded, “But God, I don’t know how to speak.” God replied, “When you go, I will give you the words. I will give you signs. I will give you the power.” “Moses said to the Lord, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent…’ And the Lord said to him, ‘Who gave human beings their mouths?… Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.’” - Exodus 4:10–12 He didn’t just send Moses on an impossible mission. He backed him with the power of heaven. And I feel the word of the Lord right now for many who have been in this season of waiting: You have been fashioned and formed to be a voice for the Lord in this next season. To set the Church free. To set the bound free. God is raising up unconventional, unusual, untrained voices who carry His heart. And I prophesy, in the mighty name of Jesus: this is your burning bush season. You are stepping out of the wilderness and into the bold voice God has called you to be. Let me go one step further: This week look. Look for the signs in your life of breakout. Look for the moments. The encounters. Because that’s where God is waiting for you. You’re looking for external change, for doors to open. But you’re missing the door that’s already swung wide open: the door of encounter. The door to the secret place. The door that leads into the tent of meeting. That’s what I’m calling you to. That’s what God is commissioning you into - a season of intimacy and encounter. So let me prophesy over your - this week, your wilderness shifts. It shifts from waiting to encounter, from wandering aimlessly to walking in clarity. The fog lifts. The silence breaks. Heaven is speaking. Dreams come now! Insight floods your spirit like a rushing river. May the full healing of the wilderness come—so the rest, the restoration, the commissioning can follow. Lord, raise up your wild voices. Those untrained by man but marked by fire. Those who have met You in hidden places. Let them rise now, rooted, ready, and roaring in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Amen.

Something is stirring in the Spirit—a revival is breaking forth in the heart of Orange County, California. But it’s bigger than California, this is just the birthing ground. A stake in the ground of sorts. A place that will send a shock-wave to the nations of the earth. Because ultimately, this is about a global move of God we are preparing for. God has called us to pioneer an Apostolic Hub—a place of fire, prayer, equipping, and sending. This isn’t just a ministry…it’s a movement. We believe Southern California is not lost or without hope. It’s primed for awakening. So with the mandate of California at the epicenter, and the nations as our inheritance, this is about God’s heart for His people EVERYWHERE. But in order to fulfill this assignment, we cannot do this alone. We’re writing to ask you to join us—not just as a spectator, but as a builder. The harvest is ready, but the laborers and resources are few. We need: — Intercessors to cover this move of God in prayer. — Financial partners to sow into this Kingdom mandate. — Servant-hearted builders to help establish the foundation. This Global Apostolic Hub will be a place where lives are transformed, leaders are raised, and revival spreads regionally and globally. But we need your help to build it. If you've been praying for revival to spread across the nations—this is your moment to act. 👉 CLICK HERE TO PARTNER WITH US FINANCIALLY! 👉 SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PARTNER EMAILS! 👉 EMAIL US HERE TO GET INVOLVED AND STAY UP TO DATE WITH FUTURE EVENTS! Together, let’s partner with Heaven to bring a move of God that will shake Southern California—and beyond. For the glory of Jesus. In Him, Nate & Christy Johnston
