I received a significant vision a number of days ago now, a monumental and seemingly impenetrable dam wall. It was a strong, fortified wall and I could see that it was holding back the waters of a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit. As I surveyed the wall in the vision, my heart felt discouraged. It looked impossible to break. Each brick that made up the wall was the size of an enormous house. Instinctively, I knew that each brick represented the mounting restrictions and impossibilities facing Gods sons and daughters around the earth, and as such, it was holding back the move of God that was sitting with great anticipation just behind it.
The thought came to my mind, “only a miraculous move of God could break this.”
At that thought, I noticed the great and vast waters began to move and grow restless. As though with a mind of its own, the waters swayed back and forth, at first in obvious frustration. But then, I noticed a quickening speed in their movement. Waves began to form in the great dam, and suddenly, they began to pummel against the dam wall.
Momentum of speed and strength increased as the once calm waters, had now grown into a ferocious and violent sea. As ferocious as it was, it wasn’t a chaotic sea, and it somehow had rhythm and coordination. The waters appeared to be were working in harmony to beat and pound against the dam wall.
I then heard the spirit of God speak to my spirit, ‘this is the prayers of my people. They are breaking the walls of impossibility in this hour. Now, survey the damage of the enemies plans.’ I then was taken to see a large and significant crack forming in the bottom of the dam wall. I heard the Holy Spirits voice again, “I am moving in response to the cries and prayers of my people. This crack will continue to worsen over the coming days and weeks as my people continue to pray. Increase the pressure, increase the prayer, for the dam wall is about to break.’
Watch and wait expectantly for the deliverance of the Lord.
I was reminded of the story of David and Baal Perazim. You are probably familiar with the word ‘Breakthrough’ in prophetic circles, and while I certainly love to prophesy breakthrough as the Holy Spirit leads, the depth of meaning from its original story behind it is often lost. What I mean by that is, breakthrough is often prophesied as an immediate, suddenly that comes with little to no effort, and while that can be the case, breakthrough most often comes through a series of hard-fought battles.
We first find the term ‘God of the Breakthrough’ as detailed in 2 Samuel 5, David had just taken possession of the stronghold of the City of David. Yet, no sooner had he claimed the city, did the Philistines come up against him in full force. Enquiring upon the Lord, God instructed him to go against the Philistines and the Lord would deliver them into his hands.
After that battle, the Philistines returned a second time, and again, David enquired of the Lord what He should do. What’s interesting is, the Philistines encamped both times in a valley called ‘Rephaim.’ Rephaim literally means ‘ghosts of hell’ or ‘giants’ and it can also mean ‘already dealt with.’ I find this profound for what we, as a people, are currently contending against. Ghosts of hell and giants are rapidly encamping in territory across the earth to come in full force against the people of God. Ghosts of hell that Jesus has already dealt with. Yet, I hear the Lord saying, just as He did to David, ‘go up against them, for I will surely deliver them into your hands.’
The second time however, God instructed David with a different, unusual strategy. He told him in 2 Samuel 5:23-24… “Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the LORD has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.”
As David followed the Lords instruction, he pursued the Philistines once again, but this time was different. This time was not in David’s strength, even though the Lord had been with him in previous battles, this was a victory entirely of the Lord’s doing. God broke through against His enemies and won the battle for them. The sound of a marching army was heard among the armies of the Philistines and it struck them with terror and confusion, so much so, they ran and David was able to pursue them unto ultimate victory.
This is where we find the word breakthrough for the first time in scripture, David declares, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like the breakthrough of waters” (2 Samuel 5:20). He called the place, “Baal Perazim” which literally means, “The Lord of Breaking through, Possessor of the Breach.”
I feel it strong in my spirit, that as we continue to go up against the Philistines of our day, we are about to see a moment, and it is close, where the Lord of Angel Armies will cause a sound to rush from heaven that will break the dam wall of the enemies plans, releasing a mighty battle cry that will send our enemies running in terror. I hear the thundering voice of His Spirit, “go up against them, for I will surely deliver them into your hands.” Where there has been a horde of demons unleashed to occupy territory on the earth, the Lord is calling on His people to stand up against these demon ideologies and not back down in fear or intimidation. We are to wage war in the heavenly realm, for the confusion that has gripped much of the earth, will be broken. Where there has been confusion, a mighty move of God will sweep the earth, and confusion will in turn, set in on our enemies. He will break through for us, and cause us to possess the breach. I am reminded of this scripture in Isaiah 58:12
“Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.”
There is no mistaking that there has been a breach, but the Lord, the God of Breaking through, Baal-Perazim, will restore the ancient ruins and the age-old foundations, He will cause His people to restore the breach and restore the streets to dwell in. The dam wall is about to burst… and we will declare, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like the breakthrough of waters.”
Can I encourage you, increase your prayer life right now. Our collective prayers are creating pressure on that dam wall, and we will see the wall break and declare, we have seen the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
